2014: The Road to 2015!

Due to it being New Years and what a blessed year I've had, I would be remiss to not post about some of the amazing events of 2014.  (In chronological order)

1. My daddy took me to Monterey Bay for the first time.

2. My dance partner and I made it up to the final round of our dance competition.

3. I started seeing real patients during clinic.. No more fellow students or typodonts! (Wow I can't believe that was just in 2014!)

4. Michael told me he loved me during our first Jazz game.

5. Michael took me snowboarding for the first time and I met the rest of his family

6. I took Michael home to meet my parents. (Where he asked my dad's permission!) and we went to San Francisco together.
(Michael also climbed a tree with me on this trip. Poor thing was terrified)

7. Michael proposed!!!!!

8. My twin brother finally got home from his mission

9. My sweetheart got baptized

10. I conquered my fear of needles
11. I got to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in a while at my bridal showers! :)

12. The day before the wedding my siblings and my cousin were in a terrible car accident that totaled the car and knocked them unconscious. That wasn't amazing. What was amazing was despite their injuries, everyone was okay. The most injured were Jared and Jason.

13. We got married!!!!!

14. We went on our honeymoon which was Michael's first cruise.

15. I went to Zions and Bryce Canyon for the first time ever!

16. We did the color run together, and the dirty dash

17. We got to celebrate Dale's 80th birthday with him at the cabin. This was the view from the porch!

18. Michael surprised me with Real Salt Lake vs Sacramento!

19. Michael willingly went hiking with me in the pouring rain. (Not to mention all of our other snow hikes, and reallllly hot day hikes, etc. He's perfect! :) )
20. We celebrated our first Halloween together, and even Mia participated :)
Also, my classmates finally got to make fun of our prisoner scrub uniform

21. We celebrated our first Thanksgiving and Christmas together :) AND NEW YEARS! Hooray for couples' firsts :)

I could go on and on :) The more I think about it, the more I have to go back and add more! 2014 was great to us! We achieved so many of our goals. I look forward to what 2015 will bring! Especially because I graduate with my bachelors in dental hygiene this April. Time to enter the real world! I am so excited.

The Road to: Free Dental Care (That Isn't Scary!)

I found this article online titled "How to Get Free Dental Care in Utah (That Isn't Scary!)" and guess what it's about? MY SCHOOL!

I want to just copy and paste the entire article, but despite this being more of a personal journal than a blog, I feel like I could still potentially get in trouble for that. So instead, here is an excerpt:
This week I visited the Utah College of Dental Hygiene in Orem in search of quality, free dental care. Though the prospect of “student” dental care might seem frightening, my experience was universally positive, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Yes yes yes! Thank you, random stranger. Dental hygiene schools are not at all scary places to get your teeth cleaned. We are CLOSELY watched with instructors ready to jump in at any second. Plus, the instructor checks everything we do so you essentially get your teeth cleaned twice. Woo! Now for another excerpt from this article:
Now I should mention that although the services I received were free, there is technically a $5 instrument sterilization fee I did have to pay. This money is an OSHA requirement and is not charged by the school. However, that five bucks got me the most thorough dental care I have ever received, and was certainly worth every penny.
The final word is this is a deal that you cannot possibly go wrong with. It is free dental care with cutting-edge gear...
I don't know who he is, but I am sure he is an A+ patient. Read the rest of his article! It is actually a bit humorous and informative about what we do at my school! http://www.utahstories.com/2010/01/free-dental-care-utah-that-scary/

The Road to: Our Wedding Day

Warning: This is going to be a very long picture post about our backyard wedding. This particular post is just going to focus on the little touches of our favorite day. I decided to post all of the aspects of the reception instead of all of our wedding pictures because when I was planning my wedding I was really frustrated that my married friends' little decorations were nowhere to be found.

Our theme in one picture:

Sticking with the country theme, we used a barrel for our cake table:
Isn't our cake beautiful? We had the edges of the petals stained orange to match our theme.

Our little cake knife set-up :) The cute mugs were a gift received at my bridal shower!

We also set up a cooling station with fans because it was a really hot day (mid August!)

Our delicious dessert table:

We had a friend make these adorable little key lime pies. They were so good!

Speaking of tables, the sign in table:

The entrance:
We hung paper flowers not only on our fences, but from the top of the archways as well:

Part of our entrance (the gift table):
 Our card box:

We served shave ice because it is a perfect thing for a hot reception (definitely a crowd favorite):

I just loved that our photographer took so many colorful tongue pictures:

There is a fireplace in the backyard we held our wedding/reception in, so my aunt painted us a large sign to fill the space: (We also put vines and little lanterns on the fireplace)

Our actual food table (we served Mexican food- yum yum!):

Lighting:
White string lights are a must at wedding receptions!
We also placed these cute little mason jars my friend made for her reception on shepherds hooks around the backyard and on the ledges:

Centerpieces:
The original centerpiece I designed had orange rose petals laying around it and was a little less symmetrical, but I was busy taking wedding photos with my husband when the tables were being set up, so the centerpiece got changed, but that's okay :)

Our getaway:
Our photographer took off just before our getaway so unfortunately this is the only picture we have of it. We wanted to do a sparkler send-off but instead chose to do bubbles
