The Road to: ENGAGEMENT! I'm Getting Married!!!

I'm ENGAGED!!! :) He put a ring on my fulcrum finger!
Instead of telling my engagement story again (I'm a little burnt out from telling it to everyone) I'd love to tell you all about how Michael and I met. This is something that seems to confuse my friends. My classmates would often come up to me and say "We're confused! How did you meet? Some say it was at the gym, others say it was Tinder, what was it?!"
This confusion is entirely understandable because you will hear different stories depending on which one of us you ask. Michael likes to make up some macho story about how he saved me from drowning and he will swear up and down that he talked to me first! Butttt sorry Michael, that isn’t the case.
I saw him, I thought he was cute, and decided that I absolutely must talk to him right then or miss my chance. So I talked to him in the mall parking lot where I saw him.
1) I had a really good feeling about him.2) I was like I will never see him again if this goes bad so what do I have to lose?! 3) He looked like a nice guy

I didn’t even go into the mall! We just hung out instead. I thought he was so cute, and very charming! We wound up having a LOT in common and eventually HE gave ME his number. I was THRILLED! I am so glad he did! We do everything together and I can’t imagine life without him.

The Road to RDH: First EVER Real Patient Day!!!!

Today was my first patient day! It was so exciting to see someone other than my fellow students! However, I also learned a VERY important lesson. A good friend of mine came in to be my patient this morning, but my friend had failed to inform me that his last cleaning was in September! It's February so we aren't quite at 6 months yet, although he had thought it was 6 months. Thankfully, I was still able to place sealants so I didn't get a total F for the day but whoops! I will ask everyone when their last cleaning was from now on!

Also, an update about clinic this semester:
-I am in Light Blue team! I get to keep Darleen from Silver so that part is exciting! She is so sweet and I can't wait to get to know my new teammates!
-We get to see REAL patients 3 DAYS A WEEK! How awesome is that?!
-We will be learning the ultrasonic about halfway through this semester which I am BEYOND excited for!!

The Road to: First Finals at UCDH!

Wow how time flies when you are having fun! Our first semester has already come to an end! We got to celebrate everything we have learned so far with FINALS. But, one thing the Class of 2015 LOVES to do is have potlucks! We have them every chance we can, and finals are no exception! We had a potluck to celebrate the end of our first semester as well as all of the December brides in the class. Congratulations girls! I'm so excited for you and this huge step!

The Road to RDH: Scaling with Sickles and Universals!

We've had a big few days! We're scaling now!

I got to scale calculus off of Lindsey's front teeth and it was the BEST EVER! It is so crazy to actually see plaque and calculus COMING OFF! The linguals throw me off a little bit with the mirror, just like probing, but I know it will come with time! :) I'm so excited fro the day that I don't even have to think about what I'm doing and it comes naturally!

We are now learning how to scale posteriors! The techniques are similar but also very different! I love school, I love my classmates, and I can't believe I'm actually getting closer to achieving my goal of being a dental hygienist!

The Road to: Halloween at UCDH!

We celebrated our first Halloween twice at UCDH. The first was by having a potluck during lunch and wearing our costumes to school.

The second was by having a party outside of school! One of the girls in our class has a barn, and her barn was the perfect location! The decorations looked awesome up in the loft, and there was plenty of delicious food! Along with lots of food there was pumpkin decorating, pin the tooth on the pumpkin, doughnut eating contests, and Fear Factor.

We are all getting along really well and I have a feeling this program will go smoothly!
